Love Ministry Outreach food distribution program is directed and operated with volunteers. We serve more than 2,000 families representing more than 3,500+ people in Daytona Beach & Volusia County Florida, bringing them regular deliveries of food boxes. In addition, special holiday meals at Christmas and Thanksgiving, gifts at Christmas, and Easter baskets reinforce both our presence and the greater presence of Christ as the true director of the ministry.
Annually, our volunteers distribute about 80 tons of food to needy people in Daytona Beach Florida & Volusia County.
We identify clients from church and nonprofit organizations and personal references. Many clients do not have reliable transportation. Each potential client must assure us they have a legitimate need for our service.
Food is donated by local and other supermarkets, area businesses such as Daytona Welding & Fabrication, Inc & received from local food drives, and purchased from Florida Food Banks and USDA programs.
We have a centralized storage facility and several areas for storage for both perishable and non-perishable food.
In order to devote all resources to acquisition and distribution of food, we utilize a cadre of 25-35 volunteers to assemble and deliver food boxes on 500+ regular monthly routes. The volunteers are more than delivery persons, they become regular members of the families they visit. They help in many ways by listening, offering suggestions and solutions, and providing hope. Our Ongoing Needs There are plenty who need our help – more than 10-thousand in the Volusia County are under nourished. In order to grow by 10-15% each year, our ministry must have volunteers to physically carry food and the message of God’s love to needy citizens. By delivering, we bypass a regular difficulty for most: the inability to come to us.
Since we deliver, we need volunteers who are also willing to spend a few minutes with clients, if they ask. Usually, a volunteer spends 5 hours a month. Families sometimes find it inspirational and instructional for their children to participate. We provide specific information and detailed directions.
By its nature, the volunteer group changes as people’s situations change. This creates our most constant need.
Thankfully, through the generosity of some people and their businesses, we seldom lack for food.
